Most new cars today come with a lot of power, too much in some cases. However, there are still some underpowered rides out there. These are generally sporty cars that could use more get up and go to become more interesting. With just a little more power, they’d be better than they already are. Here are five cars that would jump up a notch with a few more horses under the hood.

Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ
The Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are two of the best affordable sports cars out there. They’re so close to being the same car that we had to list them together. As much as we love the sharp turning, communicative steering and excellent handling of these cars, we have to note that they’d be even better with a little more horsepower. We’re not talking some big 400 hp mill, just something with a little more oomph. Somewhere between 250 and 280 hp would be just about perfect.

Subaru Impreza
The new 2017 Impreza is the best version of the car that Subaru has ever produced. It drives better, is more practical, and looks downright fast. The issue? It isn’t fast at all. The car has one of the least powerful engines in its segment. If Subaru made the engine more powerful, say 180 or 200 hp. The car would be a force to be reckoned within its segment. Currently, the car’s engine only makes 152 hp so even bumping it up to about 170 hp would feel like a big difference.
Mazda MX-5 Miata
Let us say this first. We love the MX-5 Miata just the way it is. The car’s naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes 155 hp, which is enough to have a little fun in the sporty roadster. However, we’d love to see Mazda offer it with the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s in the CX-9. We get that shoehorning that motor into the MX-5 Miata probably isn’t a viable option, but the car would be downright amazing with that engine under its hood.

Fiat 500 Abarth
The Fiat 500 Abarth is a fun little breadbox of a car, but the thing that would make it even better is a little more power. Call us crazy, but we’d love to see Fiat find a way to get an engine into this thing that could produce upwards of 200 hp. The 160 hp that comes from the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is enough to make the car fun, but more power would make us giggle like a schoolgirl, and oddly enough, that’s exactly what we want this little Italian fury to make us do.

Toyota Yaris iA
If ever there was a poor man’s sports sedan, the Toyota Yaris iA is it. The car uses Mazda2 underpinnings, which is why it’s so fun to drive. We like the car the way it is because you can drive it hard all the time and never get a speeding ticket, but a little more horsepower would be nice. Currently, there’s only 106 hp, which isn’t quite enough. Even 150 hp would feel great in this car. Now, if Toyota could only do something about that ugly catfish face.
